UGREEN FineTrack 2 Review: The "AirTag Killer" is a Glowing Soccer Ball? 

Let’s address the elephant in the room—or rather, the tiny football on the table. The FineTrack 2 is a 34mm ball styled exactly like a miniature soccer ball. Oh, and it glows in the dark.

At first glance, this design choice feels slightly unhinged compared to the sterile, stainless-steel minimalism of an AirTag. But from a purely pragmatic standpoint? A fluorescent, glow-in-the-dark tracker is undeniably brilliant when you’re blindly fishing through a deep backpack in a dimly lit hotel room. It doesn't scream "premium minimalist tech," but it definitely screams "you won't lose me." 

This is the FineTrack 2’s absolute trump card. Most standard trackers give you about 12 months before they start whining for a new button cell. UGREEN looked at that industry standard, laughed, and crammed in a 600mAh high-capacity battery alongside an Atmosic ATM2202 ultra-low power chip.

The result is a lab-tested lifespan of 5 to 7 years. Let that sink in. You will likely upgrade your iPhone two or three times before this tracker dies. It effectively turns a consumable gadget into a permanent hardware fixture. By the time it runs out of juice in the 2030s, you'll have forgotten you even bought it. 

Because Apple fiercely gatekeeps its Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip, third-party trackers on the Find My network can’t use the cool "Precision Finding" arrows that guide you directly to your lost items. They have to rely entirely on sound.

UGREEN’s workaround for lacking UWB is hilariously simple: brute force. They cranked the buzzer up to 110 decibels. For context, that’s loud enough to hear over the exhaust note of a cold-starting C63 Coupe. If this thing is buried at the bottom of a laundry basket or wedged deep between couch cushions, you are going to hear its piercing chirp loud and clear. 

Pairing is as seamless as you’d expect from an Apple-certified accessory. Open your native iOS "Find My" app, hit "Add Other Item," and you’re globally connected in seconds without having to download a sketchy third-party app. You get all the core features: Left Behind alerts, Lost Mode, and location sharing with up to 5 family members.

It’s also IP68 waterproof. It will comfortably survive a torrential monsoon, being dropped in a muddy puddle, or a spilled coffee. Just don't clip it to your BCD on your next scuba dive; it’s a tracker, not a dive computer. 

Crucially, it inherits Apple’s robust anti-stalking features. If someone slips an unknown FineTrack 2 into your bag, your iPhone will alert you, ensuring this powerful tracking tool isn't used maliciously against you. 

The Good:

• Immortal Battery: 5-7 years is practically a lifetime in tech.

• Deafening Alarm: 110dB completely negates the lack of UWB precision tracking.

• Price: At around $15, it significantly undercuts the competition.

The Bad:

• Chunky Dimensions: It’s noticeably thicker than an AirTag. Do not try to put this in a slim bifold wallet unless you enjoy sitting on a lump.

• Aesthetic: The soccer ball design isn't for everyone (though the glowing feature is objectively useful).

If you demand the sleekest, thinnest tracker to slide into a minimalist cardholder, look elsewhere. But if you want a tracker you can throw into your checked luggage, zip into a camera bag, or stash in a car without ever suffering from low-battery anxiety, the FineTrack 2 is a no-brainer.
